Principal's Message
Storm community-
It is hard to believe that we have bid farewell to 2011 and just about
completed the first semester of the school year. A new year and a new
semester always provide so many great opportunities. We get the chance
to continue the actions and work that are on course and the chance to
change the things that don’t seem to be working. As principal, I enjoy
having the opportunity to analyze the goals we have set here at Stahl.
We are reaching some of the goals we have set and we have some work to
do on others. One set of goals we use is from the school’s Continual
School Improvement Plan (CSIP.) These goals are set based on the School
Board goals for the district:
-
Increase student performance on the
MSP. (Board Goals 1,4)
-
Decrease the percentage of failing
grades recorded each semester. (Board Goals 1,4)
-
Increase the percentage of 9th
graders going to high school with 6 credits. (Board Goals 1,4)
-
Increase parent/teacher/student
communication. (Board Goal 3)
As a staff, we are committed to these
CSIP goals. If you would like any more information about these goals or
have questions
on how you can help support these goals with your own students, please
get in touch with us.
Here’s to an amazing 2012!

A message from our school nurse
Adolescent
Immunizations
This is a reminder for all parents of
ninth graders. There have been several new vaccines available to
adolescents. You probably have heard of them and some may already have
gotten them for their child. As of yet they are not required for your
ninth grader but they are being recommended. One of the most important
ones is the T-dap. It is a booster for adolescents between the ages of
11-18. It protects against Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis(Whooping
cough). They have actually had some outbreaks of Pertussis among
teenagers this last year. I would encourage you to ask about the
immunizations that are available to you during the summer break when
your child is being seen for sports physicals and yearly check-ups. If
your child does receive any immunizations this summer, please let the
school nurse at the high school know so that she can update your child’s
record. If you have questions or want further information on what is
available, please contact me and I can give you more information.
