Principal's Message
Storm community-
As we approach the “finish line” of this school year, I want to take a
moment to remind our school community of students, staff, and parents
that this is the time to finish strong. We all know that a strong push
to the end of the academic year can make a tremendous difference in each
of our lives.
Academically, we will finish strong by
completing our MSP testing requirements for this school year during May.
Despite the sometimes confusing media coverage, the MSP is still a valid
way to measure student progress and our school’s progress in reading,
writing, math, and science.
Additionally, it is vital that we finish
strong in the classroom this year. Our students and teachers have
celebrated success this winter in reducing the number of failing grades
earned at IPR #3 by over 35 percent as compared to the end of first
semester. While I am proud of this work, I also know that the second
chapter is only ten weeks away as we near the end of second semester.
One of our CSIP goals is to reduce the number of Fs from first semester
to second semester. Encourage your child to have excellent attendance,
help ensure that they have a quiet study area/time each night, and
monitor their progress using online grades (HAC).
Finally, I hope that you get a chance to
see our kids finish strong in school activities, athletics, and the arts
this spring. Take a moment to catch a track meet in the sun (fingers
crossed!), enjoy some free time as you send your students to the
Volleyball-A-Thon (June 1), Spring Carnival and Music Mania (June 8),
and/or enjoy the amazing student actors in the spring play (May
17,18,19). April, May, and June are busy and exciting times around
Stahl and I encourage each of you to support, encourage, and enjoy our
strong finish.

A message from our school nurse
Adolescent
Immunizations
This is a reminder for all parents of
ninth graders. There have been several new vaccines available to
adolescents. You probably have heard of them and some may already have
gotten them for their child. As of yet they are not required for your
ninth grader but they are being recommended. One of the most important
ones is the T-dap. It is a booster for adolescents between the ages of
11-18. It protects against Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis(Whooping
cough). They have actually had some outbreaks of Pertussis among
teenagers this last year. I would encourage you to ask about the
immunizations that are available to you during the summer break when
your child is being seen for sports physicals and yearly check-ups. If
your child does receive any immunizations this summer, please let the
school nurse at the high school know so that she can update your child’s
record. If you have questions or want further information on what is
available, please contact me and I can give you more information.
