SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS - Booster Club awards $500.00 scholarships to 5 seniors every year. You must be a booster club member to qualify and to also fill out the local scholarship packet. Please email booster club at RHSBoosterclub@gmail.com for an application.

Booster representatives will be selling Ram Gear at the home football games at Sparks Stadium and also on Fridays during our lunches at the Concession Stand in the gym lobby. The next On-Demand Write session for seniors is Tuesday, February 9 at 3 pm in the Career Center.

The Puyallup Chapter of Youth Leadership Council (United Way) will be held at the Puyallup Public Library (324 S. Meridian, Puyallup) from 4:30-6:00 pm. Youth Leadership Council is a way for students around Pierce County to meet and plan service projects and fundraisers, as well as find out about other volunteer opportunities, scholarships, and to meet students with a similar interest in their community.

Wednesday, February 10th: SENIORS may get a planned absence from the attendance office for one day - February 10 - to complete their job shadow. Students who take advantage of this day, MUST have their job shadow paperwork turned in to the Career Center no later than February 17! Seniors should be encouraged to use the mid-winter break to complete the job shadow and community experience requirements!

WSU has a great opportunity for students attending WSU for the first time. Summer Advantage, a five-week, seven-credit mini-semester, providing students an early start and helps in adjusting to the academic and social demands of college life before students plunge into a full fall semester.

The Willie Stewart Community Service Scholarship celebrates and recognizes high school seniors in Pierce County who have given back to their community through volunteer service. There are no income requirements but applicants must qualify and apply for a United Way Varsity Letter in Community Service.
Deadline: April 1st

Congratulations to both the boys and girls wresting teams! The girls were crowned league champions for the second consecutive year. Kylah Williams, Chevelle Woodard and Jessy Christensen grappled for individual league titles. They will compete next week at ER for a state birth.

The boys squad finished runner-up and will be sending 12 qualifiers to Regionals next week at Todd Beamer. Bryce Evans, Joey Palmer, Ricky Manz and Drake Watson claimed individual league titles.

Way to go Rams!

Congratulations! to James Lane for placing 3rd at the West Central District dive meet at Foss High School. This placing also qualifies him for the State meet!

Wednesday, February 10: there is a Track & Field meeting at 2:30 in the Commons.

Show off your Disney Princess credentials by dancing like Cinderella, singing like Snow White or just showing off your princess traits. Audition February 12 at 3pm. Mrs. Kalles in the Career Center has more info.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to become an Engineering Technician, Biotechnology Lab Technician, Dental Lab Tech, Denturist, Information Tech Specialist, Web Developer, Auto Body Refinisher or Mechanic, Legal Office Assistant, Broadcast Productions, and many other careers that provide a good salary without a 4-year degree? If so, come to the Career Center to sign up for the Career Education Shadow field trip on February 16.

United Way and Youth United are readying for two community service projects this month of February.

1. Saturday, February 20, volunteer at the Edgewood Food Bank.
2. Saturday, February 20, Cascade Land Conservancy (near Lakewood), environmental restoration work.

Come to the Career Center for the permission slip and monthly service project contract.

Community Service Opportunity:
Become a high school camp leader for 5 days and 4 nights with 5th and 6th grade students.
Train one weekend for leadership and then become an outdoor leader during spring break.
Applications are in the Career Center.

CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGIES (Sheet Metal/HVAC Pre-Apprenticeship)

The pre-apprenticeship programs combine on the job training with classroom instruction that focuses on both an introduction to a skilled trade and introduction to the development of professional skills such as work ethics and conflict resolution. The School to Apprenticeship program is designed for juniors (boys and girls) in high school with an opportunity to move into an apprenticeship program after HS graduation.

Interested students may pick up a brochure and application in the career center! All completed applications must be turned in to the career center by February 22 to ensure meeting the application deadline of February 26.

ATTENTION JUNIORS: Two opportunities are available for juniors that could lead to scholarships.

1) Masonic Outstanding Junior Award - Applications are available in the Counseling and Career Center. Eligible students need to have a strong academic profile and be involved in school and community activities. The application requires several short (100 words or less) essays. Applications are due in the Counseling and Career Center no later than Monday, March 15th.

2) Girls' and Boys' State - These programs are sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Students selected will spend a week at Central Washington University learning about government and running a mock state government. Students should have an interest in politics, government, public speaking and the law making process. Applications are due before Spring Break.

Nurse Camp is a special experience for high school students to see first-hand the exciting inspirational world of nursing and allied health careers, as well as learn the necessary steps to prepare for these professions.
The Career Center now has applications for students.

If you are currently in High School, and looking for tuition-free summer service opportunities, SCA's National Conservation Crews are for you. There's work to be done in all 50 states -- in parks and forests, on beaches and riverbanks, at fisheries and volcanoes. You could be there, carving trails across tundra, building rock steps up woody slopes, constructing foot bridges over marsh lands...

Washington Business Week is a week-long, hands-on, experiential, overnight summer program for high school students to explore the real-world!
